Reinier and Nathalie's kitchen needed replacing, so they wanted to replace all the fronts. For this DIY project they chose birch plywood as the panel material. With birch plywood you have beautiful wood grains, but not too many knots, exactly the wood material they were looking for. First of all, they determined the dimensions based on their old doors with some adjustments. This gave them the smoothest possible result. Are you curious about the end result? Read here how they proceeded!

Description by Reinier and Nathalie

Our kitchen needed a renovation. And we wanted a completely different look. That is why we have chosen to replace all fronts with multiplex birch. The birch has a beautiful clear wood grain, but not too many knots.

Custom kitchen doors

Our kitchen was in need of a renovation. And we wanted a completely different look. That is why we have chosen to replace all fronts with multiplex birch. The birch does have a nice clear wood grain, but not too many knots.
We took the measurements of our old doors with a few extra millimeters to get the tightest possible result.

We are pleasantly surprised by your super smooth sawing and the quality of the wood. And in most cases the grain continues nicely.
We treated the doors with varnish wax (from polyvine via Maisonmansion from Nunspeet) 1 layer of color (apply and wipe away with a cloth) and then another 3 layers of transparent to make the doors completely waterproof and heat resistant.
New tight handles (Hornbach) on it. Ultimately, we were so happy with the result that we decided to expand the kitchen with an extra cupboard. And by moving the oven there was room for the coffee machine.
