Blackout shutters for the dormer window
What blackout is useful for this dormer window with beamed ceiling and tilt-and-turn windows? Finally my wife came up with this idea: Interior shutters should be it! Completely blackout at night and during the day. The shutters can be folded completely so that the windows can be opened if necessary. In terms of style, they also fit perfectly with the house, a farmhouse in a rural style.
How do you make rural shutters?
First, the desired width of the shutters is determined. The shutters consist of 2 hinged parts and frames to which they are attached. Made the outer hinged part slightly wider so that the shutters fall over the frames when folded. Then ordered the various parts from TOSIZE.fr and got to work. To ensure that the shutters do not warp and do not become too heavy, primed poplar plywood has been used. A line was milled into the hinged parts to make it look like planks, a recess was cut out for the window handles and a small button was installed to make folding easy. Then the parts were painted and mounted together with small hatch hinges. Then mounted the frames of the shutters on the frame of the dormer window and you're done!
Final size: What are the outside dimensions?
These are 2 shutters of 104.5 cm high, one hatch is 85.0 cm wide, the other 94.0 cm.
