In this DIY project, Job shows how he made a conversion for an Ikea cupboard using custom-sawn MDF. By ordering the sawing work online, he was able to start his project immediately. The result is a beautiful custom cabinet. Read more about his approach and experience below.

Description of Job

A base of a bookcase. Some of the ordered planks were also used for spacers for the top cupboard. This will be completed with the next order.

How I made this project

Ordered the conversion of the base cabinet online. The interior cabinets are from Ikea. We ordered varnished wood, so that we did not have to prime the wood first and could paint it immediately. Applied 2 layers on this. The holes for attaching the hinges for the doors are milled into the wood. The hinges were also 'copied' from Ikea cabinets and could be copied. As can be seen in a photo, you can also make a custom intermediate piece with the skirting board.

Dimensions of my DIY project
