In this DIY project, Benjamin shows how he made a beautiful piece of storage furniture himself. By ordering cut black MDF to size, he was able to start his project straight away. The result was good.
Description by Benjamin
To complement Egon Eiermann's E2 desk frame, a shelf was to be made that can be loaded from the side. The shelf was to be divided into four compartments by a central cross. Black MDF 18mm was chosen as the material. The joints were to be steel-free (i.e. without screw or nail connections). Therefore, only glued dowel connections were used. The dimensions correspond to the axis dimensions of the desk.
How I made this project
The cut panels came in two packages. After the boards were laid out to fit together, the holes in the head side were drilled first. An 8mm drill with a depth limit of 31 mm was used for this. An 8mm dowel (approx. 40mm long) was then glued into each of these holes with a little glue. The matching counterparts were then made. This time with an 8mm drill into the surface, this time 11mm deep. Finally, all the boards were put together and held together with clamps.
